NexosIQ — Intelligent Document Processing

What Is NexosIQ?

NexosIQ is NEXOS's proprietary document intelligence engine. It powers every extraction, verification, and confidence scoring operation across the platform. NexosIQ was purpose-built for financial documents — invoices, receipts, and purchase orders — with a focus on field-level accuracy, not just document-level recognition.

Two-Pass Architecture

NexosIQ operates on a two-pass verification model designed to maximize accuracy while maintaining processing speed.

Pass 1 — Extraction

The first pass performs a full document extraction. NexosIQ applies preprocessing to optimize image quality, then extracts all financial fields using explicit parsing rules: digit isolation, unit/quantity separation, mathematical validation of line totals against subtotals, and 24-hour time normalization.

Pass 2 — Verification

The second pass independently re-examines the original document alongside the Pass 1 output. Each field is verified and assigned a confidence score from 0 to 100. Discrepancies between passes are resolved in favor of the higher-confidence reading. If Pass 2 encounters an error, the system gracefully falls back to Pass 1 data — results are always returned.

Image Preprocessing Pipeline

Before extraction, every document is run through NexosIQ's preprocessing pipeline:

• Auto-rotation — Corrects orientation using EXIF data
• Histogram normalization — Balances exposure across the document
• Sharpening — Enhances edge definition for cleaner character recognition
• Brightness adjustment — Optimizes contrast for low-light captures
• Resolution optimization — Resizes to ideal extraction dimensions (max 2400×3200)

This pipeline ensures NexosIQ performs consistently regardless of document source — high-resolution PDF, mobile photograph, or faxed scan.

Confidence Scoring

Every extracted field receives an individual confidence score. Scores are surfaced in the UI as:

• Green dot — 95% or higher confidence. Field is verified.
• Yellow dot — Below 95% confidence. Field is flagged for review.

Confidence scores are also available via the API in the fieldConfidences object on every invoice and receipt response.

Accuracy

NexosIQ achieves industry-leading field-level accuracy across vendor invoices and expense receipts. The two-pass verification model was designed specifically to outperform single-pass extraction systems used by legacy platforms.

Processing Time

Standard documents process in 3–6 seconds end to end. The two-pass verification adds approximately 2–4 seconds of asynchronous processing with zero impact on user experience — Pass 1 results are displayed immediately while verification runs in the background.

Cost Efficiency

NexosIQ processes documents at a fraction of the cost of comparable enterprise extraction platforms, with no per-page fees and no volume penalties. All NEXOS plans include unlimited document processing.
